Mummy MOT & Menopause MOT

A Mummy MOT – is a specialist postnatal examination for women where we assess how your posture, pelvic floor muscles and stomach muscles are recovering after birth.

The session starts with an in-depth consultation when we have plenty of time to listen to your concerns. This is followed by a physical assessment, after which we’ll teach you how to use your pelvic floor muscles correctly and guide you on any exercises you need to do, or refer you appropriately for further help if you need it. We’ll explain everything thoroughly and you’ll come away with a Report of Findings on the day, giving you all you need to help in your recovery and to cope with the demands of being a Mum!

You can have a Mummy MOT  any time from 6 weeks after delivery  (8 weeks caesarian) but it’s never too late to book – we can still help the many Mums out there with older children who have had long term issues with their pelvic floor or abdominal muscles which were not addressed at the time.

Appointments last up to 90 minutes, cost £95, and are with Rachael who is an experienced osteopath, Pilates instructor (with additional certification in Women’s Health/Pelvic Floor Pilates) and a licensed Mummy MOT Practitioner. Follow up appointments if needed are £50. Please wear leggings and a t-shirt for your appointment – more information about what to expect will be given on your confirmation booking email. If you have any questions before booking don’t hesitate to call us.

A Menopause MOT – is a detailed consultation and assessment suitable for any woman who wants advice and guidance on the many symptoms during this time in her life and for the perimenopausal and postmenopausal years too. Emphasis is on all round health, improving  your posture, mobility and core strength, and optimising the function of your pelvic floor muscles to improve any associated bladder and bowel issues (or avoid them in the future).

This is similar in time, price and structure to the Mummy MOT (see above). Please note that Rachael can’t prescribe HRT, but is qualified to know when and who to refer on to if medical intervention is necessary. We have plenty of time to discuss all your symptoms, and following the consultation and assessment findings you’ll go home with more knowledge about your pelvic floor and much more, plus a realistic lifestyle and exercise programme that will be tailored to suit your specific needs.

Appointments can be booked online or by phoning the practice on 01209 612197.
