Pilates or Yoga?
One of the questions we often get asked at the clinic is ‘Which is better – yoga or Pilates?’
As with lots of questions, there’s no simple answer to this! But if you’ve had any kind of back injury then we usually advise doing Pilates first because it involves smaller, very controlled movements, that target your deep muscles more specifically.
But yoga is a fabulous form of exercise too, you don’t have to pick one over the other, you can absolutely do both!
Rachael is a qualified yoga instructor and the clinic runs occasional yoga classes.
Our next class is a special Pre Christmas Yin Yoga – the hour long class will consist of slow, gentle relaxing stretches held for long enough to allow your body to truly let go, and your stress levels to plummet. Fairy lights, Christmas scents and quiet, soulful music will help get you truly in the mood for Christmas, without the experience being synthetic or commercial in any way.
You don’t need to have done yoga before, and you definitely don’t need to be flexible – as long as you’re able to get down on to the floor and are okay changing position fairly easily, then there is a class is suitable for you! Here are the details –
Date – Wednesday 17th December
Times – 2:15pm – 3:15pm Yin Yoga for those seeking a gentler, confidence-building experience
3:30pm – 4:30pm Yin Yoga for regular participants and confident exercisers
Venue – Camborne Community Centre, 9 South Terrace, Camborne TR14 9SU (very easy to find, and there is plenty of onsite free parking available)
Price – £8, must be booked in advance as places are limited
What you need to bring – a yoga mat and 2 normal sized pillows, although there will be some available to borrow. A blanket is optional for relaxation at the end. Please wear comfortable stretchy clothing, with bare feet or fluffy socks.
