Camborne Back Clinic Yoga
Pilates or Yoga?
One of the questions we often get asked at the clinic is ‘Which is better – yoga or Pilates?’
As with lots of questions, there’s no simple answer to this! But if you’ve had any kind of back injury then Pilates is usually our ‘go to choice’ because it involves smaller, very controlled movements, that target your deep muscles more specifically.
However, yoga is a fabulous form of exercise too, and for the first time we are introducing yoga classes run by the clinic – see below for details.
By the way – there’s no reason why you have to pick one over the other, you can absolutely do both!
Camborne Back Clinic Yoga – For the last few summers, Rachael has run a Stretch class throughout July and August. This class has always featured some elements from yoga, but last year Rachael completed a full 250 hour yoga teacher training course and a 50 hour yin yoga course, so this summer’s classes will be 100% yoga!
Expect some flowing sequences to really get the body moving, as well as poses that you hold still to feel the muscles and joints gently release. Aspects of meditation, relaxation and breathwork will be introduced to calm the nervous system, so that your mind as well as your body benefit from the classes.
You don’t need to have done yoga before, and you certainly don’t need to be flexible. However, you DO need to have a level of fitness that allows you to move around a mat and get up and down off the floor fairly easily.
Regrettably these classes aren’t suitable for anyone with injuries that are in the acute stage, anyone with replacement hips or knees, or anyone who is pregnant.
Classes are 2.15pm – 3.15pm on Wednesdays 23rd & 30th July and 6th, 13th & 20th August, at Camborne Community Centre
The 5 weeks need to be prebooked for the whole block, our Summer Special price for this is £25 so that it’s still good value even if you have to miss one or two sessions. Phone the practice on 02109 612197 or book online. Places are strictly limited and are expected to be fully booked, so don’t hang around!
